Hunger Games – Book Review

Hunger Games - Book Review

The Hunger Games is a series of young adult novels. The novels have all been developed into films starring Jennifer Lawrence. The hunger games take place in future time, in the dystopian, located in North America. The country consists of a wealthy Capitol city, located in the mountains surrounded by 12 poorer districts ruled by the capitol. The Capitol is very rich and ahead on technology.

The 12 districts are in varying states of poverty. Katniss Everdeen lives in district 12 with her mother and sister which is the poorest region. People die regularly of starvation. One boy and one girl from each district, between the ages of 12-18, are selected by lottery to compete in an annual pageant called The Hunger Games. The games are a televised event in which the participants are forced to fight to the death in a dangerous public arena The winner and their family are rewarded with food and riches are the fight.

I wouldn’t recommend this book for very young kids. It’s very hard to follow but very interesting when you get into it! It’s very eye opening, to be grateful for what you have. It’s a very different series. Nothing like this would ever happen in real life but its crazy and interesting to think about.
