Did You Get A Flu Shot?

Flu season has started and is very common for people to get during the winter. To start with, if you experience a fever higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, muscle aches and pains, vomiting, chills, headaches, or stuffy nose you may have a flu.  It is best not to attend school due to the fact that you can easily spread the flu among people that are in close contact with you. There can be more serious side effects as well, that if you have, you should see a doctor. If you are older than 65, pregnant, or have a chronic health condition you are at a higher risk of complications. The flu shot is a good way to prevent getting the flu. It can take up to two weeks for the benefits of the shot to fully kick in, so it’s best to get it sooner rather than later. If you get sick after you have already had the flu vaccine it can shorten the time that you are sick and reduce some symptoms.

To conclude, the flu is a common illness that can make you feel lousy. But the best advice is to take medicine for a fever, do not go to school or work so it does not spread, see your doctor, and lastly get your flu shot. Flu shots in Lisbon are offered at the drug stores and doctors’ offices. I believe it is a good idea to get the flu shot. There’s not much of a reason not to get your shot. I believe the Lisbon community would benefit if more people at school got the flu shot to help prevent the spread.
