Talking German

It’s awesome, different from living in the city. Everybody knows everybody. I like that.”

— Jannik Schmidt on living in Lisbon

Heute sind wir mit Jannik Schmidt sprechen. Oh, excuse me, today we are talking with Jannik Schmidt. He is the foreign exchange student from Germany at DAHS this school year. He filled us in on what he thinks about Lisbon.

We asked Jannik what life in Lisbon is like for him, he said, “It’s awesome; different from living in the city. Everybody knows everybody. I like that.”

When Jannik compares life in America to life in Germany he thinks it is very similar. “People drive cars and ride bikes a lot more here,” Jannik said.

Jannik has been to 16 different countries, including America. In response to what his favorite country is, Jannik replied, “I would say the Netherlands.”

He enjoys his classes a great deal.  For Jannik, sports are fun. He played soccer and volleyball back home. He said, “I play football, I’m going to play basketball. I think I’ll run track,” here at Lisbon.

Jannik’s plans for the future are to go to college, study medicine and then become a plastic surgeon. “I think it would be cool if someone burnt their face and you could help them and give them a second chance,” he stated.

Jannik is going to homecoming, but the question everyone wants to know is, does he have a date? He sure does; Jannik is going to homecoming with Emily Steves.
