Spelling Bee


On February 8th, 2019, Lisbon David Anderson Junior High students participated in the annual Spelling Bee. Students were dismissed from class during 7th and 8th period. The Spelling Bee was held in the auditorium where parents were more than welcome. There were forty students participating in total, 10 students from 5th grade, 10 students from 6th grade, 11 students from 7th grade, and 9 students from 8th grade. The first place winner was 7th grader, Katie Hawthorne. She received a $50.00 gift card to Barnes and Noble and a one year subscription to Britannia Online for kids. The runner-up was 5th grader, Devin Cornman. He received a prize of a $20.00 Subway gift card. The second runner-up, Reese Carpenter, also received a Subway gift card of $10.00.

The winner and the runner-ups will get to move on to the County Spelling Bee, which will be held on March 6th, 2019 at 6:30pm. The County Spelling Bee is held at the DAHS auditorium as well. The winner of the Columbiana County Spelling Bee will receive a free trip to Washington D.C. where they will compete in the National Spelling Bee.
