American Red Cross Blood Drive

Lisbon David Anderson High School holds an annual Blood Drive every year for the American Red Cross. This year the Blood Drive was held on March 6th in the auditorium. The American Red Cross is actually the ones in charge of this event, but on that day they receive help from the Health Career’s Club.

Students are allowed to donate as long as they meet the requirements. First students who are 16 years old can donate if they have a permission slip from their parents, and other requirements are meeting height and weight, which can vary. The last requirement is everyone needs to take an iron test. It is also important to drink lots of fluids, no caffeine and eat at least 2 hours before donating.

Every year there is a set goal for how many pints of blood that they would like to get. This year the goal was 34 pints. Although they were unable to reach their goal, they did have 24 people that still touched the lives of 72 people. With every pint of blood 3 lives are saved. Also out of those 24 people, 15 people were first time donors.
