Track Preview

This year’s 2018 High School Track is working super hard to do better than last year. The coaches this year are Coach Tsilimos and Coach Joy. This will be Coach Tsilimos 2nd year coaching the runners and Coach Joys 1st year coaching the throwers. This year’s returning lettermen are seniors, Courtney Morenz, Michael Sims, Seth Stokes, Eva DeRuyter, Brian Dickson, Matthew Hall, and Jacob Mundy, juniors, Haley Toot, Reagan Emmerling, Katie Haifley, and Marisa Spooner, and sophomores, Maddie Liberati, Nick Mundy, and Darrin Ward.

Coach Joy wants all the throwers to improve on their techniques in hopes that they will break their personal records and someone will go to state. He is most confident about the season because of all the returning lettermen. The most valuable thrower is Maddie Liberati, with her longest throw in discus being 90 feet and 33 feet in the shot put. Their most valuable jumper is Seth Stokes jumping at 6’9” and winning at the indoor state meet.

The track team travels to Steubenville Saturday March 24th for the Early Bird Invitational, they will be taking the top two from each event. The regular season starts March 27th at Columbiana for a quad meet, where all members will be competing. Columbiana, Heartland Christian, Southern Local, and Toronto will also be competing in the meet.
