Lady Blue Devils Win District Title

The Lady Blue Devils basketball team has had a very successful season. Winning districts was a an important event that has not happened at Lisbon schools since 1991. Coach Entrikin gave his thoughts on winning a district title, “Unbelievable feeling to win it. It made all the hard work put in to the season by our players and coaches worthwhile.” The Lady Devils worked seven days a week with two hour practices to accomplish what they did. A lifting program was also put in place during the season to help strengthen the players.

The feeling of holding the trophy was a great sense of accomplishment. Happiness for our program, our school, and our community.  Coach Entrilin also stated that this was the most exciting moment in his coaching career. It has only been done three times in the history of our school in basketball. He spends many hours thinking of a practice plan each day, including the drills that many do not like. Coach Entrikin won the Coach of the Year award this season and said that he could not have done it without these girls.

Entrikin stated the key points in the game were that “everyone played together. No one gave in. we went through stretches in the final quarter where we had turnovers and missed shots, but our players battled through it. The biggest moment in the game was Autumn getting an offensive rebound, getting fouled, and making both free throws with a little over six seconds left in the game. It was incredible.” He also emphasized the importance of the support from the community, “I have so much pride and appreciation for the support everyone gave us. It was extra special for me, since I grew up in Lisbon and graduated from David Anderson High School. The community has given me so much over the course of my lifetime, it’s nice that we could give something this exciting back.”
