Band Concert – “Carols Through the Years”

The 32 members of the high school concert band held a concert on December 9th in the auditorium. The theme of the concert was “Carols Through the Years” featuring holiday songs as far back as the 1600’s, all the way to modern, popular Christmas songs. The songs that the band played  included, “Sketches on a French Carol,” arranged by Bryan Kidd, “Christmas Time with Charlie Brown,” arranged by John Moss, “Christmas Winds Overture” by Douglas E. Wagner and “Santa’s Fiesta,” arranged by Patrick Roszell.

Mr. Miller’s favorite song that was performed is the “Christmas Winds Overture.” It is a medley of holiday songs that is arranged really well for a concert band, and this group sounded great playing it. The students played traditional concert band instruments including trumpets, trombones, baritones, tuba, flutes, clarinets, alto and tenor saxophones, and over a dozen other percussion instruments. They had practiced these songs for about two months, but added “Santa’s Fiesta” only about two weeks ago. Overall the concert was a big success.
