Movie Review – The Night Before

The movie, The Night Before, was written by Levine, Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. It costars Lizzy Caplan, Jillian Bell, Mindy Kaling and Michael Shannon. The Night Before is not a regular Christmas movie that is joyful and full of holiday spirit like waiting for a miracle to happen. This movie is more of a comedy than joyful. These are three lifelong friends, Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen), and Chris (Anthony Mackie) who gather every Christmas Eve to throw a party. This year is the last time, though, as Isaac is about to become a first-time father and Chris is suddenly a famous American football player because he took steroids. Thus it’s their last chance to help a friend face adulthood and responsibility and try to make the last time memorable, so they went on a search for the Nutcracker Ball.

The Nutcracker Ball is supposedly the biggest party of the year, so they been trying for years to get the address. Throughout their years of trying to find the Nutcracker, they made promises to many people. Now that they have found where the party is, they do not follow through with the promises and they have many people mad at them. Ethan had the chance to perform a duet with Miley Cyrus with the song Wrecking Ball. Ethan got the courage to purpose to his girlfriend, Diana. Diana had no choice but to say no because she was under the pressure of everyone staring at her.

A year later they all celebrated Christmas together. Isaacs’s baby cannot sleep that night, so they all go up and sing a Christmas carol to her until she starts to laughs and claps. After they sang to her she falls right to sleep.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who would like to see a funny holiday movie. The Night Before will have you laughing most of the time, it’s something different than your normal holiday movies.
