DAHS Music Department Presents “Sounds of the Season”

Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium, the Lisbon Music Department presented their holiday performance, “Sounds of the Season”. The concert started out with a flute quartet and then a brass quintet. After those performances, the concert band played a range of Christmas songs from “Carol of the Bells” to “Nightmare Before Christmas”. Next came the hand chimes, a group of students who had never performed before. They played “Auld Lang Syne” and “Silent Night”, among other classic songs.

The choir was next to perform, starting with a girls ensemble singing Justin Beiber’s “Mistletoe”. Seniors Chris Dantona and Skylar Wiggers followed with a beautiful duet of the popular Christmas song “Last Christmas”. The girls ensemble then came back to the stage to sing the Frozen hit “Let it Go” with a special solo by Aliyah Leyman. The combined choirs then sang a few recognizable holiday songs, including a special appearance by the Heat Miser played by Spenser Cox. Aliyah ended the segment with her own rendition of “Grown Up Christmas List”.

The Show Choir ended the show with a bang. This is the first year that DAHS has ever had a show choir, and the students choreographed their own dances to the songs. Wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, they danced and sang across the stage to “On the Roof” featuring the boys, and “Extra-Ordinary Christmas”. The Show Choir was a great addition to Lisbon’s music department and the band and choir shined as usual. Overall, it was a fun and festive performance to showcase our students’ talent and kick off the holiday season!
