47th Annual Johnny Appleseed Festival

47th Annual Johnny Appleseed Festival

The 47th Johnny Appleseed Festival was a big success this year. This past weekend, many students and members of the community came out to enjoy the sunshine, watch the parade, or snack on some delicious apple treats. In the morning, avid runners participated in the annual 5K run, then stuck around to watch the grand parade at 11:00 AM; one of the guest judges this year was Stan Boney from the local news station, WYTV. Walking in the parade was the Lisbon Blue Pride Marching Band, along with many local businesses, visiting royalty from other Ohio festivals, and many interesting floats. After the Grand Parade, retiring JAF Queen Vanessa Restifo and first attendant Hannah Bosel crowned the new Queen and her court, including Danyail Hayko, a senior here at DAHS, who is this year’s second attendant.

Over the two days, there was never a shortage of things to do. Some events included the ice cream eating contest, kid’s pedal tractor pull, and the classic car show. The Main Stage saw some great performances from local artists including the Lisbon Community Choir, and on Saturday night the talented members of Ohio Idol performed for the second year in a row. In addition, the Pet Parade, hosted by the Humane Society of Columbiana County, brought enjoyment to the crowd, and the local Bettie Lee Dance Studio performed on stage. As usual, the festival was a great success and a fun weekend for all.
