Recap of the Season

Lisbon had their first winning season in many years. The Blue Devils’ record flipped from last year to this year, going from 3-7 to 7-3. Lisbon will be losing six valuable seniors but will be returning many strong players next year. The Devils are looking forward to continuing the successes of this season into more victories next season!

Lisbon vs. Jackson Milton

Lisbon was ready to play their last game of the season and they wanted to go out with a win. The Devils scored first in the game and continued to dominate. Austin Davis and Frankie Morell each had two rushing touchdowns, while Jason Thompson and Josh Liberati each added rushing touchdowns. Nate Cook was 3/5 on extra points with Josh Liberati making a two point conversion. Austin Rutecki and Anthony Rhodes each had interceptions. The Devils came out on top with a final score of 41-18.

Lisbon vs. Springfield

This week was the Meet the Team game at Lisbon against Springfield. The Devils fought hard throughout the game but things did not go their way. Lisbon scored two touchdowns, both by Jason Thompson. He had a 73 yard rushing touchdown and he also had an 84 yard touchdown reception thrown by Josh Liberati. The Devils never gave up during the game. They gave it their all and tried their best, but they fell 41-14.

Lisbon vs. United

Lisbon was coming off their big win in week 7 and looking for another win against United. The first half was very close, United was leading 10-7 at halftime. Josh Liberati threw a touchdown pass to Josh Craig. Josh Liberati also had a rushing touchdown. Jason Thompson had a 53 yard rushing touchdown. The Devils played hard throughout the game and never gave up. The Devils eventually fell 24-21 in a close one.

Lisbon vs. Columbiana

Although Lisbon started off slow against Columbiana, they never gave up and showed a lot of heart. The Clippers scored two touchdowns before the Devil’s Jason Thompson rushed for a touchdown. At the end of the first half, Lisbon was down 14-7. The Devils started the second half with a kick-off return for a touchdown by Colin Sweeny. The Devils got the ball back from a Columbiana fumble that was recovered by Seth Davis. A few plays later, Josh Liberati threw a touchdown pass to Josh Craig. Jason Thompson had two more rushing touchdowns throughout the game. Frankie Morrell also added a rushing touchdown. Frankie Morrell and Danny Shultz each had an interception, with Colin Sweeny having two interceptions.  The Devils also forced a late safety. The Devils came out on top with a score of 41-14.

Lisbon vs. Crestview

Through rain and shine, the Devils gave it their all and played a great game. Josh Liberati had a rushing touchdown to give the Devils an early lead. Frankie Morrell and Jason Thompson also had rushing touchdowns. Josh Liberati completed 13 of 16 passes with three passing touchdowns to Jared White, Colin Sweeny and Jason Thompson. Austin Rutecki had a two point conversion, while Alex Barnes was 2/4 with extra points. Josh Craig, Seth Davis, and Anthony Rhodes all had fumble recoveries for Lisbon. The Blue Devils came out on top with a score of 41-35.

 Lisbon vs. East Palestine

The Devils were looking to improve their record to 4-1. Although East Palestine scored first, the Devils answered back with Frankie Morrell’s touchdown catch, thrown by Josh Liberati. Frankie Morrell also had three rushing touchdowns. Jared White had a few great catches and a receiving touchdown. Jason Thompson and Austin Davis both added rushing touchdowns. Josh Liberati had an interception and Austin Rutecki had two interceptions. Jaret Everett recovered a fumble. The extra points were kicked by Jared White (4/6) and Josh Liberati had a two-point conversion. The Devils came out on top with a win of 49-40.

Lisbon vs. South Range

Entering into week 4, the Devils knew they had to play their best and have no mistakes. The Devils started the game strong; Josh Liberati, Austin Davis, Danny Shultz, and Jason Thompson all had rushing touchdowns for Lisbon. Jared White was 4/4 on extra points, but the Devils eventually fell to South Range with a score of 56-28.

Lisbon vs. Wellsville

Coming off week two’s win, the Devils were ready to play. The Devils came out strong and played as a team. Austin Rutecki had an interception in the first quarter. Later in the game, the Devils picked up two touchdowns, thanks to Austin Davis and Jason Thompson; that was all the Devils needed for the win. The Devils defense held the Tigers to 0 points. Colin Sweeny also had a late interception which sealed the game for Lisbon. The Devils won with a final score of 13-0.

Lisbon vs. Mineral Ridge

After the win against Leetonia, Lisbon was looking to improve their record to 2-0 which has not happened since 2006. The Devils knew they could win if they played as a team. The Devils came out strong. Josh Liberati threw three touchdown passes to Josh Craig, Cody Freeland and Frankie Morrell; Liberati also ran in a two point conversion. Frankie Morrell had a rushing touchdown as well. Lisbon’s defense played well, only allowing the Rams to score one touchdown in the final seconds of the game. Bailey McCullough also had a fumble recovery. The Blue Devils came out on top with a score of 35-7.

Lisbon vs. Leetonia

The Lisbon football team opened up with Leetonia at Thursday night’s Spaghetti Bowl. Things started off fast for the Blue Devils, with an interception on the first play of the game by Jason Thompson. The Devils also had three rushing touchdowns in the first half, which came from Jason Thompson, Danny Shultz and Austin Davis. The Blue Devils knew they had to come out strong in the second half. The Devils scored yet another rushing touchdown by Danny Shultz. Lisbon’s defense was playing well, forcing two more interceptions by Austin Rutecki and Seth Davis. Josh Liberati completed 7 out of 11 passes and had a passing touchdown to Jared White. Jared White was 5/5 on kicking extra points. The Devils came out on top with a 35-6 victory.
