“Solid Future” for Young Softball Team

As the spring season comes to a close, there are many positives for the future of the varsity softball team. Although the Blue Devils did not finish with a winning record, Coach Crismon believes there is plenty to gain from a season consisting of underclassmen. Surprisingly enough, the leader in batting average, home runs, and hits goes to a freshman, Devyn Flory. Flory has made her mark as a varsity softball starter. Another impressive accolade from Flory’s season is how she has thrown out 16 of 22 base runners attempting to steal. Along with a young, top tier prospect, the fielding will continue to improve as Taylor Siefke and Hannah Hiscox will return. Both players have fielding percentages over 90%. “There is a solid future for this team,” Coach Crismon added. With Allison Cosma being the only senior graduating, the youth of the team will definitely be one of next year’s strong suits. Hailee Metzgar will continue to grow as a pitcher and help support the team by holding their opponents to a manageable amount of runs. Heading into tournaments, the Blue Devils will take on the Jackson Milton Blue Jays.
