Prom Dress Shopping

Prom Dress Shopping

Prom dress shopping can either be very stressful or very exciting. Some girls fall in love with the first dress they see, while others spend weeks shopping for the perfect dress. It may take weeks or even months to find your dress, and you will most likely have to visit several dress stores. One of the most important things to know about prom dress shopping is that it is best to go into the shop with an open mind because if you do not you will be limiting your choices. Girls sometimes go into a store with an idea of what they want, but then they end up devastated when the store does not have what they are looking for; all the time, girls pass up a great dress because it is not exactly what they thought they wanted. There are so many different colors and styles to choose from that it can be overwhelming, but you may end up falling in love with a dress you never thought you would like.

Pricing is also a huge factor in buying your prom dress. You could easily find the perfect dress but it may be way out of your price range. Dresses are monsterously overpriced, and for some, the cost is just too much. When you add up all the other expenses that a girl has, like hair, makeup, shoes, jewelry, nails, tanning packages, and more, hundreds of dollars for the dress is just the beginning. Not all girls will go to these lengths, of course, but the added expense on top of a dress is something to think about.

Guys generally do not have as much to worry about. Most likely, their date tells them what color they want them to wear, and there are only so many different tuxes to choose from. On the other hand, the boys might have a lot to buy as well. Even though their tuxes and shoes are rented, that is still an expense, and boys are responsible for their date’s flowers, plus half of the limo if that is how you decide to travel. Overall, boys probably spend about a fourth of the cost that girls do.

It is undeniable that girls spend much more on the whole prom experience than boys, but we can not forget that Prom is not just for girls. Prom is a night to get dressed up, have fun with your friends, and dance to a great DJ. In the end, it does not matter if your dress was not exactly the color you wanted, or if you had to go to five different stores to find it, or even how much you spent; what matters is that you make the most of Prom night and enjoy it because these are memories that will last a lifetime.
