The Path to Tournament Ascendency is in Grasp

The Lisbon Boy’s Basketball team has taken the ITCL by storm! They possess 2nd place with an overall record of 15-3, sitting only behind the Springfield Tigers. Success has driven the team in a new realm of Lisbon athletics, lifting not only the students, but the community. Most of the varsity squad’s dominance has come from the sophomore class, consisting of Josh Liberati, Avery Andric, Austin Rutecki, and Josh Craig. These underclassmen have shown that they are a threat to be dealt with, and have proved that they are among one of the most elite classes in recent memory.

Aside from the outstanding record, and a rebirth of a school, some fans may not be aware of some notable accolades from this season.  Avery Andric tied his own record this season with seven 3-pointers in a single game. Matt Spencer, the lone senior, has one of the highest 3-point percentages in the tri-county (44%).  Austin Rutecki received “Player of the Game” on a televised broadcast where the Devils stunned the Tigers in an incredible victory that truly showed their talent and heart.

The Blue Devils are looking to continue their ascendency during tournament play. This team will surely have the town buzzing over the next couple years. However, this has been a year of a basketball renaissance, and the Devils plan on going out with a bang!
